It is so easy to get caught up in the process and overwhelmed in the planning for a wedding. The possibilities are endless, the details staggering, and the cost shocking. You may be wondering, how does this daunting process become a joy filled preparation and honoring celebration? Great question!
I believe what is most essential to a “perfect” wedding is that every stage from the planning, preparation all the way to the final moments of the celebration, be a reflection a sacred union. This is a set-apart time that can be unique, beautiful and honoring, a signature to the story of blessing and the awesome commitment of the bride and groom.
You start by making the commitment for it to be so. As you go though the planning, you may get off track here and there, but by making that commitment and having steps to help you get back on track, this will truly be a time set-apart. Here are some fundamental steps that I suggest.
First, establish the “big picture”, the purpose of the event. This will be help keep the focus on the main thing and keep emotions, relationships, and budgets in check.
Second, establish the vision, design of the event and method to completion. Goals and check lists equal sanity and will also keep the third step in check.
Third, establish a reasonable budget, monitor it regularly and keep it in check by using resources wisely and with lots and lots of creativity.

I am grateful for the insights and talent gained from 20 years of experience in the hospitality, meeting and events industry. Through these experiences, I have developed respect and a unique understanding of the many facets of event and meeting planning. This has proven to be a valuable asset to my clients and appreciated by partners, suppliers and site representatives.
For the last 8 years I have provided freelance planning services to corporations, persons and non-profit organizations. This includes 8 years assisting a local corporation with their annual national convention (5 days, 1500 guests), local and destination weddings, fundraising events, international/political conferences and event design.
Foundational to my successful freelance work is the experience I had at the Minneapolis Convention Center. During my 7 years there I planned & coordinated an extensive range of catered events; designed décor, creative room layout and custom menus. Accomplishments include a gala dinner for 7,400 and elaborate reception for 10,000.
Prior to that experience I had the privilege of working with some of the most respected restaurant groups and culinary leadership in the Twin Cities & Seattle, WA.
I am committed to using these skills, knowledge, and commitment to excellence to benefit the reputation valued clients and their guests.
